Mian OB/GYN & Associates: Rafiq Mian, MD

Dr. Mian has been my OB for 17 years, consistently providing impeccable service and taking the time to explain everything clearly. His nurse also has an extraordinary bedside manner. The lab technician has been the only one I've encountered during my visits who can draw my blood without causing any anxiety about needles.

Not a place for people who care about patient autonomy, privacy, or people who don't have childcare alternatives. In all of my 40+ years on this planet, I have never been given an HIV waiver for testing by a general GYN. You can refuse to be tested for HIV, but you have to go up to the front desk and ask for a different waiver in front of the entire waiting room (that's a massive HIPAA violation right there). You also have to sign a waiver that you agree to make another appointment to get any of your results (that's just lazy on behalf of the doctor and wastes everyone's time). Then there's another waiver that indicates you can't bring in your kid if they are older than 8 years. So are people supposed to leave their 9 year olds at home alone for the 2 hours they spend getting to the appointment and talking to the doctor? Is that a thing most parents want to do? I'm really disappointed by this office and walked out without even looking at the remainder of their "waiver agreements" and policies. They give you a stack of them when you walk in. It's a bad start and hopefully this review saves some of you the time I had to waste figuring this out on my own.

I been seeing doctor Mian for over 16 years and his been a wonderful doctor. He help give birth both of my kids. I have no complaints. Always have treated me with respect. And always when I’m sick he always gives me the right medication.nurse’s and front desk are always ready to help. Many many thanks.when I’m there they make you feel like family. Doesn’t feel like you are in a doctors office.

Love Dr. Mian, best obgyn he has delivered all my babies and now my son soon. He cares for his patients. Don't be leaving him hanging like I did. He does care for your prenatal care and how you and your baby is doing. I always recommend him to family in MD having babies. So far he has delivered 3 babies from my close relatives and can't complain about him being the best Dr ever!!

Interested in getting an IUD contraceptive? - Well, DO NOT GO TO DR. MIAN !!!! I have an existing IUD implanted and went to Dr. Mian because I got it while I was living in another state and it was approaching time that it needed to be replaced. He has NO bedside manners and is very cold. I expressed my reason for the visit and he immediately cuts in and says he will take out the IUD but "it is against his belief" to insert an IUD for woman who has not yet had a child. He refuses to do it and began to question me about my plans for future children like he has some sort of say in it. What in the Handmaid's Tale world am I living in?!?! This "belief" that women who have not birthed children should not have an IUD implanted is an OUTDATED misconception with science to back it up that it is totally safe for women to have it if they are eligible. The assistant kept apologizing to me when he left the room. She clearly felt uncomfortable about this as I was... Please do not go to this doctor. You should have the right to have a choice in what you do with your body as long as it's not a danger and especially if it is deemed SAFE, and that that decision is made by you and not some doctor's outdated beliefs. I truly can't believe I experienced this and I would never wish this upon anyone else. Find someone else to care (TRULY care) for your health.
