Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Associates

My wife and I used this practice years ago (I am writing this review now because they started sending their newsletter to my email address, which reminded me about the bad experience we had). To make a long story short, my wife went for a skin check and had concerns about a suspicious spot. Dr. Shahabadi completely missed that spot, until my wife pointed it out after she completed her routine check. That spot turned out to be a benign cancer, which required surgery. The surgery was performed by Dr. Mirali, who is Dr. Shahabadi's husband and claims to be a "plastic surgeon": he left a visible mark that you would not expect for a procedure performed by a plastic surgeon. In addition to their incompetence, the other problem was their greediness. They tried to charge me for a copayment after I told them I had reached my out-of-pocket limit for the year. Their front-desk people insisted that copayments don't count towards the limit (what does then?) When I demanded to speak to Dr. Mirali about this, he took me in the back as he was probably afraid of others in the waiting room overhearing the complaint. He started to become really angry at me, claiming that I was wasting his time and did not want to serve my family any longer (I would have not returned anyway), and even called security on me to escort me out of the building. PS: Despite multiple attempts to unsubscribe from their newsletter, I am still getting their emails.

I came in 2 min outside my scheduled time grace period because there was a fire truck blocking the the parking garage and I was refused. The receptionist lied and said the doctor was with her 4pm appointment even though 4pm appointments do not exist. The latest appointment is at 3:45 everyday. I was in traffic for an hour and half coming here for absolutely no reason. Will not be returning.

Find another provider. Not only do they nickel and dime you by making schedule repeated and aggregious appointments, they are terrible at performing procedures and leave you in horrendous pain during and afterward. Soden Dermatology is a much more personalized and comfortable choice.

Made an appointment thinking this was in my insurance network. Turned out it wasn't, not ideal but not the worst. Paid 155$ out of pocket. Ended up frustrated and feeling like at no point had I been actually listened to. I understand that telemedicine makes it hard to diagnose things, but the fact remains that I had to repeatedly say that I don't have a rash (only to be prescribed treatments for things that don't match my symptoms).

Dr. Miraliakbari aka Dr. Mirali is such a sweet and knowledgeable provider. His bedside manner is excellent and his surgical skills are top notch. He answered all of my questions in a clear and concise manner. The staff are also very professional, you are seen in a timely manner, the office is easy to access. I will continue to come to this practice for my dermatological needs.
