RGV Women’s Health Center - Dr. Uvaldo Cantu, MD

Office was dirty and outdated. The building looks like an abandoned building. Staff is rude and unaccommodating. They do not keep appointments or tell you when they change. We drove all the way across the valley for our appointment only to find they had rescheduled it. No one notified us until we were standing at the front desk. Office is not family friendly or even spouse friendly. They do not allow ANYONE to accompany the patient. We will not be coming back here. There are other better places.

Dr Cantu is a polite well trained very smart doctor who definitely has the training and experience to handle any situation. Because of his keen clinical skill my twin boys were saved. I am very thankful he knew when to act for the best out come.

Dr. Uvaldo Cantu was a character from the start. I had gone to several different obgyns and had a hard time with them all, when I first came to Dr. Cantu’s office I came in with high hopes. Unfortunately, he was just another disappointment along with the other docs I went to. I had a miscarriage and he made me feel invalidated by my feelings. He told me “oh it’s just genetics,” as the cause of death for my baby. I asked him, “but what exactly was it,” hoping I’d get a more in depth answer, he responded, “I just told you, you weren’t listening.” As I was crying, I was at a loss for words as he said that, he nonchalantly passed the nurse who was with him some tissues to hand to me and stated, “any more questions,” I calmly said no and left never looking back. I already had a horror show at the hospitals I went to during me miscarrying and seeing him after was the cherry on top to a horrific situation. This was my first pregnancy and everyone treated me HORRIBLY. Shame to him and all the other doctors who are inconsiderate of their clients. I even notified him prior, about being a person with pcos, and having a bariatric surgery hoping he’d let me know if it was a risk factor in my pregnancy and he simply dismissed it. I would never recommend this place for anyone ESPECIALLY those who may have pcos or are bariatric patients like myself. As for the staff, they were very nice and friendly, my only issue here is the doctor himself. Not surprised considering he is a man and the staff are all women. I hope this helps women who are looking for a decent doctor for their pregnancies, i recommend going anywhere but here. Doctors (OBGYNS) from Weslaco are TERRIBLE.

Excellent Doctor! Dr. Cantu is very attentive and understanding! He takes the time to explain every procedure and genuinely is interested in the patient's opinion and concerns. I recommend him to all my female friends!

Dr cantu did both of my csections despite the fact that my son was an emergency csection he did awesome he was there at all times , as for my daughter he did great! Never had a problem (: definitely recommend
